6 - 10 September 2017 From classical crossover and minimal soundscapes to modern composition with (live) electronics. Gaudeamus Muziekweek presents the newest music by young music pioneers during the eponymous and highly renowned music festival in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
After the Gaudeamus Muziekweek closing concert on sunday 13 september Alexander Khubeev (RUS 1986) received the prestigious Gaudeamus Award 2015 from the hands of director Henk Heuvelmans.
The international jury, consisting of Calliope Tsoupaki (GRC 1963), Stefan Prins (BEL 1979) en Raphaël Cendo (FRA 1975), decided unanimously that Khubeev is “original and inventive composer. He achieved a perfect balance between his sonic universe and the written realization. He has a brilliant way of expanding advanced techniques, and create a mysterious and profound sound-world. We wish him a brilliant career.”
The Gaudeamus Award is an incentive prize for young composers under 30 years.The winner will receive a commission worth € 5,000 to write a composition for the next edition of Gaudeamus Muziekweek.
