6 - 10 September 2017 From classical crossover and minimal soundscapes to modern composition with (live) electronics. Gaudeamus Muziekweek presents the newest music by young music pioneers during the eponymous and highly renowned music festival in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
After the Gaudeamus Muziekweek closing concert Anthony Vine (USA 1988) received the prestigious Gaudeamus Award 2016 from the hands of director Henk Heuvelmans.
The international jury, consisting of Seung-Won Oh (KOR 1969), Willem Jeths (NLD 1959), Pierre Jodlowski (FRA 1971), decided unanimously that: “Anthony Vine creates a solid, mature, beautifully crafted fragile sound world. He knows how to blur the identity of the different sources of sounds including the use of electronics in a very singular way.”
The Gaudeamus Award is an incentive prize for young composers under 30 years. The winner will receive a commission worth € 5,000 to write a composition for the next edition of Gaudeamus Muziekweek.
