Oerknal! is a collective of young professional musicians, composers, video artists, recording engineers, and graphic designers. A passion for new creative experiences unites the Oerknal! members who believe that music should be presented in an intense, visceral manner.
The ensemble seeks out new and unique artistic connections as it engages in cross-disciplinary collaborations. Oerknal! eschews the traditional concert hall etiquette. It prefers non-traditional venues such as galleries, jazz clubs, and reclaimed spaces while experimenting with fresh concert presentation formats. Most importantly, Oerknal! is committed to music with a modern sense of style and a contemporary sensibility that belongs to and was written for no other time than the present. This festival Oerknal! is ensemble-in-residence.
